Keep Learning

Recently I heard an interview on the radio. The RJ was interviewing Mr. Javed Akhtar. I did not hear the interview from the beginning. From what I heard the question must have been about the generation gap. Mr. Akhtar was telling the RJ that there is a generation gap because we are not ready to learn.

The older generation feels that since they have seen life, they know more than the younger generation. Society expects the younger generation to learn from the life lessons of the older generation and hence respect the older generation. But then there is a lot to learn from the younger generation as well - about the new technology, new development, new ideas or anything for that matter. But in this case, society is not very open to the idea of learning from the younger generation and respecting them as well for what they know.

Mr. Akhter said that when we all are open to learning from anybody irrespective of age and respecting that somebody, we will not have this gap between generations.

Mr. Javed Akhtar is a master of words, so when he said this it didn't sound so boring. Ignore the way I have put it but focus on the idea of learning, today and always.

  1. I believe, Mr Javed Akhtar hit a really important relevant aspect of our social structure. Not having this attitude causes such friction. Wonderful take away Kavita.
